NFA Transfers
Eligible Items
We facilitate transfers for standard NFA items (e.g., suppressors/silencers, short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), any other weapons (AOWs), and transferable machine guns where applicable). As a Type 01 FFL (with potential future SOT addition for growth), we handle Form 4 transfers to individuals/trusts.
Transfer Fee
Fee paid upfront, non refundable.
Additional Costs (Customer Responsibility)
-
ATF tax stamp (currently $0 for most items like suppressors/SBRs/SBSs/AOWs per 2026 changes; $200 remains for machine guns/destructive devices).
-
Any eForm filing/platform fees (e.g., via Silencer Shop or similar if used).
-
Fingerprints/photos (we can assist or direct to services; expect $20–$50 if needed).
-
Process Overview
-
Customer must notify Embers Arms prior to shipping.
-
Item ships to Ember Arms (must come from another FFL/SOT; we provide our FFL info).
-
Customer completes ATF eForm 4 (preferred for fast processing) or paper Form 4.
-
Submit fingerprints, passport photos, background check info, and any trust docs.
-
ATF approval/wait: Currently very short (eForms often 6–29 days median in early 2026; paper much longer).
-
Requirements — Valid Arizona ID/residency proof; no prohibited persons; compliance with all federal/state laws. In-person visit for final paperwork/review/pickup after approval.
-
Timeline & Pickup — Pickup only after ATF approval and clear background; reasonable storage provided short-term (extended storage may incur small fee to control costs).
Transfer Terms
-
All transfers follow strict ATF regulations.
-
Ember Arms maintains the right to refuse transfer.
-
Original invoiced purchaser must be the transferee for any item received.
-
Only items shipped from an FFL will be transferred.
Private Party Transfers
-
Private party sales require both parties be present during the transfer with valid ID.
-
If a firearm is flagged as lost or stolen, Ember Arms will notify appropriate authorities.
-
Ember Arms will not inspect, warranty, or make any claims on items transferred.
NFA Transfers in Event of Denial or Customer Fails to Transfer with-in 3 months of Receipt
-
We do not keep or claim the item—it's the customer's responsibility to coordinate return with the seller.
-
Our transfer fee is earned for services rendered (receiving, paperwork facilitation, storage during wait), so it's non-refundable even on denial.
-
We'll assist with communication/logistics where possible (e.g., providing FFL copies for return shipping) to minimize hassle.
-
If the denial is appealable (e.g., fixable paperwork or NICS error), we can help guide resubmission once resolved—no extra transfer fee for a retry on the same item if it returns to us.
Notification of Inbound Transfer
All transfers initiated to Ember Arms require notification.
